Install

Voxel Mode is a Blender extension. It needs Blender 5.0 or newer and is tested on Blender 5.0 and 5.1.

From the downloaded zip

1. Download the Voxel Mode .zip. Do not unzip it.
2. In Blender, open Edit ▸ Preferences ▸ Get Extensions.
3. Click the ⌄ menu in the top right and choose Install from Disk…
4. Pick the .zip. Blender installs and enables it.

You can also drag the .zip straight onto the Blender window.

Check it is running

Open the 3D Viewport’s sidebar with N. There should be a Voxel tab. Inside it, the Voxel Mode section has an Add Voxel Model button.

If the tab is missing, look in Edit ▸ Preferences ▸ Add-ons and make sure Voxel Mode is ticked.

Updating

Install the new .zip the same way. Blender replaces the old version. Your models, your saved shapes and palettes, and any shortcuts you changed are all kept:

• Models live in your .blend files.
• Your own shapes and palettes live in folders you choose in the preferences.
• Changed shortcuts are stored in Blender’s preferences.

Built-in shapes you corrected

Shapes that ship with the add-on live inside the extension folder, and an update replaces that folder. If you corrected a built-in shape with Save Over Shape, save a copy into your own library first. See Shapes.
