Open Edit ▸ Preferences ▸ Add-ons, find Voxel Mode and expand it. Keyboard shortcuts have their own page.

Buttons in the preferences that open a shipped scene as a new, unsaved file:

Settings

Option	Type	Default	What it does
Palette Library	String		Folder searched for .json and .png palettes, which then appear in the palette dropdown. Leave empty to use Blender’s own scripts folder
Stamp Library	String		Folder searched for saved shapes, which then appear in the Shapes list. .json stamps and .vox files both count. Leave empty to use Blender’s own scripts folder
Edit New Models Straight Away	Boolean	True	Pick up the voxel tools the moment a model is created, so Add > Voxel leaves you ready to build. Off, the new model is made and left selected in Object Mode, and Tab or the Enter Voxel Mode button starts editing
Use A Voxel Workspace	Boolean	False	Switch to a Voxel workspace when a model is created, creating it the first time. The workspace is a copy of whichever one you were on, set to Solid shading with vertex colour so the model looks painted. Off, models are made in the workspace you are already in
Fold Idle Models	Boolean	True	Draw a model nobody is editing as one object instead of one object per chunk, and drop its grid from memory. Blender pays for every object on every frame, so this is what keeps a scene of many large models moving. A model unfolds when you start editing it
Fold After	Float	1.5	How long a model waits after you leave Edit Mode before it folds, so stepping out and straight back in costs nothing
Keep Decoded (MB)	Int	512	How much of the most recently folded models’ voxel data stays decoded in memory, so re-entering one is instant. 0 drops every folded model’s grid; it is read back from the file data when needed
Swatch Size	Float	2.0	The largest a palette swatch is drawn. They are square, so a narrow sidebar draws them smaller than this - widen it, or use fewer columns, to reach the full size
Swatch Columns	Int	16	Swatches per row in the palette grid. Fewer makes each one wider, because a row is always the panel’s width. The built-in palettes are eight step ramps, so 16 or 8 keeps a ramp lined up with the rows
